I would like to share my thoughts with you on a social issue that we need to accept and be ashamed of. We have seen how girls are discriminated as since the time they are born in our society and this continues even after her marriage. Worse, the mother turns against her own daughter and teaches her to look down upon herself which is unexplainable but true. This causes endless pain, torment and loss of self esteem in the girl child and this becomes all the more evident when a boy is born in the family and all attention is diverted to him "since he is the saviour for the parents and will ensure a passage for them to heaven when he lights their pyre". Can anything be more illogical and bizzare in this age of rational and scientific thinking?
Hence my wife and I decided that we would have only one child after our daughter was born. This is because I know that my daughter will prove as good as any son and do us proud. And as for the vansh, well that is irrelevant now as women have achieved economic independence and don't need men to support them any more. In any case we do not use any Surname.
